The attraction of evil in politics
Why is Evil sexier and has more followers than Good? Why is the greatest mass murderer in history, Mao Zedong (at least 50 million civilian victims) still displayed today on the Chinese bank notes, while neither Stalin ("only" half that many civilian victims) nor Hitler (about as many civilian victims) have never had that honor?
Any law student knows that morality has nothing to do with law and justice. Legislation and its application may be deemed unfair, immoral, but it is the Law. For this reason there are countless injustices, and the prisons are full of people unfairly convicted of moral acts.
According to the categorical imperative of Immanuel Kant, which can be condensed in the saying "Do not do to others what you would not want them to do to you", are the maxims of the 10 Commandments. These commandments include the 7 Deadly Sins generally committed by politicians:
- Sloth (laziness is the privilege of the elites)
- Pride (bling-bling and mania to show up with trophy women and celebrities)
- Gluttony (often associated with lust)
- Greed (the rich are only generous with other people's money)
- Wrath (the uncontrolled rage or anger of Nero, Hitler and Erdoğan)
- Envy (especially envy of power)
These sins also involve racism and sociopathy - in short, everything that is characteristic of a criminal mind. Hedonism is the mere pursuit of pleasure, and avoidance of displeasure, which can be considered questionable from a moral point of view, but cannot be considered in itself a criminal behavior...

After the fall of a dictator, the new "democratic" government generally calls for a "reconciliation". This will allow it to re-incorporate in its services the former torturers, thus the continuity is ensured...
As I write this, the Western politicians, led by German chancellor Angela Merkel, are content that the continuous flow of refugees dried up, but in reality only the flow through the Balkans stopped, while many thousands refugees continue to die in the Southern Mediterranean... On the other hand, Merkel and the like feel irresistibly attracted to China where they travel frequently, even more frequently than to Tehran and Riyadh…
There are plenty of such decision makers in the great monotheistic religions. They decided about the life and death of the heterodox and other dissidents, of witches, of those belonging to other nations or races. Among the most famous decision makers are Abraham, who decided about life and death of his son Isaac, and Eichmann, who decided about life and death of hundreds of thousands of people, mostly Gypsies and Jews. It was Eichmann who provided inspiration for Hannah Arendt's famous book "Eichmann in Jerusalem – A Report on the Banality of Evil."
