Are you secretly racist? Or an alcohol addict, but didn't know about it? Do you have unconcious tendancies of being a sexist?

You want answers, check out these revealing tests, organized by Project Implicit and sponsored by Harvard University

A - Follow this link to start the test : https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/

B - Select your country and/or your language.

C - You will then be redirected to a test selection.

Here are few exemples of the available tests based on your country (here, America; but note that the available tests are optimized by country so no worries if you are not american ^^ ):

Sexuality ('Gay - Straight' IAT). This IAT requires the ability to distinguish words and symbols representing gay and straight people. It often reveals an automatic preference for straight relative to gay people.

Gender - Career. This IAT often reveals a relative link between family and females and between career and males.

Age ('Young - Old' IAT). This IAT requires the ability to distinguish old from young faces. This test often indicates that Americans have automatic preference for young over old.

Religion ('Religions' IAT). This IAT requires some familiarity with religious terms from various world religions.

Weight ('Fat - Thin' IAT). This IAT requires the ability to distinguish faces of people who are obese and people who are thin. It often reveals an automatic preference for thin people relative to fat people.

Skin-tone ('Light Skin - Dark Skin' IAT). This IAT requires the ability to recognize light and dark-skinned faces. It often reveals an automatic preference for light-skin relative to dark-skin.

Race ('Black - White' IAT). This IAT requires the ability to distinguish faces of European and African origin. It indicates that most Americans have an automatic preference for white over black.

and so on...

Up to you to try one test and share your results with us.

On my personal board, I did the test to see if I have sexism issues with the Gender - Career test. The results were very positive. In other word, I consider men and women on a perfect 50/50 balance. I guess I am ready for tomorrow. On the other hand, a friend of mine (a women) did the same test before me and she realized that she was unconsiously a bit sexist in her perception of Gender and Career path, meaning, woman were just a tiny bit more likely to stay home and men to accumplish their professional career.

Of course, we shouldn't be determinist about the results. For exemple, it is possible to make one mistake in an answer and then the score would be thwarted. But it is interesting to mix our own perception of a matter with a serious quizz that can destabilized preconcieved ideas.

I leave you on this note.

All the best,

Anthony
